The seminar is presented by Dr Maria Di Biase and hosted by the Centre for Stem Cell Systems.

Dr Maria Di Biase - Postdoctoral Fellow (Harvard Medical School) now at University of Melbourne.

Maria Di Biase is recognised for her research in advanced neuroimaging methods, particularly as applied to schizophrenia.

A major focus of her work is mapping the neurobiological progression of schizophrenia and factors that mediate this relationship, including inflammation and grey matter loss.

During her PhD at the University of Melbourne (2014-2018), she led the single largest neuroimaging study of neuroinflammation in schizophrenia and published some of first evidence of white matter connectivity changes across stages of the disorder.

As a post-doctoral fellow (2018-current), she leads the diffusion MRI analysis of the North American Longitudinal Prodromal Study (NAPLS), in order to identify novel biomarkers associated with psychosis onset.

Maria is now based in the University of Melbourne's Department of Psychiatry.
